Advanced Biotechnology Project: How Do You Make an Enzyme?
Enzymes can be found all around us, from common household products to clinical laboratories. But how do you make an enzyme?
To determine this, our class will be using the purification of DHFR to mimic the production of an enzyme from its initial culturing to a final product This project is designed to give students and in-depth look at the technical aspects of protein purification and testing the enzyme for its activity. The students will become a manufacturing company, with each group working to be the most knowledgeable and best-producing in the class. This unit incorporates much of what students have done in the previous semester and begins a strong foundation for research projects done in the future. This page will continue to be updated as the project progresses.
All materials were designed from the BioRad Growth and Expression Kit. (Link to kit here)
